I have been a bit of a rock hound ever since I was a little girl. Collecting rocks was something my Dad and I did together. He loved tumbling and polishing stones. We would spend hours on the shores of Lake Huron collecting Petoskey stones. I still have his collection. Although to most, it is just a wooden box, full of rocks, to me it is a connection to my Dad. His tired and calloused hands worked with pieces of the Earth, making them his own. Creating in his workshop was his BE STILL time.
My Dad was very much like a rock. He worked HARD each and every day of his life. He was GROUNDED, always. He was WELL-ROUNDED and had many talents. Even on those tough days, he always started the next day with a clean SLATE. Dad never took life for GRANITE. My Dad was the STRONGEST man I had ever met. He was truly MY ROCK.
Today, Be Still. Focus on your passion. Also, think about that special someone who is your ROCK. Take a moment to remind him/her just how much you care. Life can be shorter than expected…never take a single moment for GRANITE.
