Roda’s Critter Connection

Today was the first day we could open the hive.  It was an amazing and successful experience!  For now, here is a sneak peek at one of the magical moments…

The shape of the burr comb says it all!

I can’t wait to share my hive adventure with you tomorrow!

    1. Oh my goodness, no! It has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. I’ve been reading and preparing for years. If you are ever in West Michigan, let me know! You can suit up and get a closer look!

  1. That really didn’t take long! Those bees are serious about their work ethic 🐝. Is it really that easy to collect honey at this point? Or is there some processing of the comb?

    1. We won’t be able to collect honey until next year. At this point, the hives are just getting established and are focusing on multiplying. Any honey created this summer and fall will be left for the bees over winter.
