What’s the Buzz…

A field of dandelions might seem like a nuisance to some, but it is a beautiful gift, from mother nature, in my eyes.   I love dandelions!

Keep in mind, these so-called “weeds” serve a very important purpose – bee food!  If you are considering spraying harsh chemicals on your lawn, please consider the safety of the bees. These tiny creature are so very important! Think about it…bumbles humbly and diligently work each and every day, and for what? Us! All of their labors are for others…

This weekend, I was so excited to see a field of yellow, in our front yard.  Take a look…

“The bee is more honored than other animals, not because she labors, but because she labors for others…” ~ Saint John Chrysostom

We have so much we can learn from the bees…

  1. I love dandelions, too. In these parts, dandelion greens are eaten as a ‘spring tonic.’ I’ve never quite developed a taste for them, but fiddlehead season is coming and that’s a sign of spring I’ll chow down happily!

  2. We keep as many of the dandylions going as we can and only deadhead them when those pesky ‘clocks’ are about to hitch a ride on the nearest breeze. 😀 (cranky neighbours who don’t ‘get’ bee feeding)
