The Yellow Row Boat

Weathered – Weekly Photo Challenge

When I read that the Weekly Photo Challenge was “weathered”, the first thought that came to mind was of this small, yellow row boat.

As we were kayaking off of Copper Harbor, at the Northern tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula last summer, we discovered a small abandoned mining island.  During our exploration of this tiny island, we happened upon this pale yellow boat.  Somehow, her sunny yellow boards felt as it they still held life.  And just think of the wonderous copper mining stories she could tell…

There was something about her yellow, weathered paint…With all of the mining ruins we discovered on this deserted island, she stood out above the rest…as if to still be waiting for her next journey, on the waters of Lake Superior.
