Zinnias are truly happy flowers! They are easy annuals to grow from seed and come in a variety of colors and shapes. These beauties can withstand the hot summer days of July and August, here in Michigan, and continue to feed the bees throughout the cooler Fall days.
Zinnias are native primarily to North America, with a few species in South America. They range from 4″-40″ tall, depending on the variety.
I like to grow zinnias throughout the garden, not only for long-lasting color, but for their tendency to attract butterflies, bees and hummingbirds.
Zinnias make the perfect choice for cut flowers. There is nothing like a rainbow bouquet of freshly cut zinnias to brighten any room.
“Your soul is attracted to people the same way flowers are attracted to the sun. Surround yourself only with those who want to see you grow.” ~Pavana
