My Story:

I am married to my soulmate, my voice of reason… my rock.   Throughout my blog, I  refer to her as “Wifey”. Let’s just say, she is a bit on the shy side!073 I am blessed with 3 beautiful, talented and hormonal teenagers. (Love them) I spent 22 years teaching elementary education. Two years ago, I closed that door and opened a new one… It has been over these past two years that I have focused on “Growing Self”.

I have always been an avid gardener of flowers, herbs, fruits and vegetables.  Gardening brings me peace, joy and contentment.  It allows me to live in the moment, as challenging as that can be! There is something so therapeutic about digging in the cool, moist soil, planting a seed and tending to a young, tender life.img_6358

Leaving my career in education has allowed me to explore and expand not only my gardening, but my dream of becoming a hobby farmer.  I am a proud mama of 2 horses, 4 goats, 2 dogs, 8 cats, 24 ducks and 84 chickens. Anything that walks up the driveway, has a home here at Indigo Acres! (If someone could drop off a mini donkey, at the end of the driveway, it would be greatly appreciated!)

When it is not gardening season, I find myself pulled to create indoors and out.  Art feeds and heals the soul.  Having my hands covered with paint is just as therapeutic as being covered with soil.img_2296

Capturing life’s moments through photography is also a passion. Hiking, kayaking and travel makes capturing these images effortless! Over the past two years, yoga and meditation have also become new explorations of self.img_0834

I have been told for years that I should start a blog.  I always giggled to myself.  Who would want to read about my quirky little life? Granted, I have always felt that reaching out to others is one of best things you will ever do for yourself. I have a strong intuitive side and trust in that when making life decisions.   After numerous suggestions,  I decided I would put the idea of starting a blog out to the universe.  I needed a blog title, if I was meant to share my thoughts, my dreams…my journey.  And then it came to me…”Growing Self”

My Advice:

I know the award asks for two pieces of advice, but let’s bend the rules, shall we!  I have three pieces of advice that I live by…

Love Yourself…Embrace Yourself…Just Be You…

“Just be yourself.  Let people see the real, imperfect, flawed, quirky, weird, beautiful and magical person that you are.”    ~unknown

My Nominees:

*I understand that not everyone chooses to be a part of the award nomination process. By nominating the following blogs, I am able to celebrate not only some wonderful bloggers I recently started following, but some old friends, too! If you choose to take part, that is fantastic! If not, no worries! Just keep writing…♥

  1. Thankyou so much for the nomination. And so glad so read about your lovely family and your gardening hobby. I would love to hear more about your gardening stories and experiences. I too have a kitchen garden my other home ( Dehradun ). Getting fresh vegetables straight from the garden always thrills me. 😄

  2. Beautiful as always and love seeing your pictures while reading your words my fairy sister. Your picture with Wifey along the beach must be my favorite, but I’m sure as I see more they will soon become favorites as well. Thank you so much for always thinking of me and including me. It means a lot and I feel honored. xo

  3. Beautiful words and beautiful images but I gotta say the shot of you and wifey on the beach is just stunning! The contrast in outfits against the backdrop and the composition of the shot is simply gorgeous. Wish mine and hubby’s wedding shots looked as stunning!

      1. Probably cause I adored them more. I’m still friends with my elementary and one of my high school teachers on Facebook. They made huge impacts on my life for sure!
