Wanderlust: Isle Royale

An Isle Royale National Park Adventure

Wanderlust: Weekly Photo Challenge

Do you want to be far away from the hustle and bustle of civilization?

Would you enjoy exploring a rugged and isolated island in the middle of Lake Superior?

If so, Isle Royale National Park is your perfect choice!  Located approximately 50 miles off of Copper Harbor, Michigan, this stunning park covers 894 square miles, is over 45 miles long and 9 miles wide.  If you are fortunate, you might catch a glimpse of a moose or hear the howl of one of the few remaining wolves on the island.  Isle Royale is the only known place where wolves and moose coexist, without the presence of bears.  Much discussion is taking place, currently, to add 20-30 wolves to the island, in order to prevent the pack from disappearing altogether.  If you enjoy backpacking, hiking, and kayaking, then I highly recommend considering this hidden gem for your next travel destination…
